Polymer Chemistry Applications of Cyrene and its Derivative Cygnet 0.0 as Safer Replacements for Polar Aprotic Solvents

This study explores a binary solvent system composed of biobased Cyrene and its derivative Cygnet 0.0 for application in membrane technology biocatalytic synthesis polyesters. Cygnet-Cyrene blends could represent viable replacements toxic polar aprotic solvents. The use 50 wt % mixture makes practical difference the production flat sheet membranes by nonsolvent-induced phase separation. New polymeric from cellulose acetate, polysulfone, polyimide are manufactured using Cyrene, 0.0, their blend. resultant have different morphology when solvent/mixture temperature casting solution change. Moreover, also explored substituting diphenyl ether results indicate that is very promising candidate enzymatic high molecular weight
